The center's online offerings include 20 new asynchronous courses in microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) and BioMEMS foundations. By 2021, SCME SCME plans to have a total of 48 short MEMS courses online. With 500 active faculty users of SCME resources, center leaders hope to impact the education of 20,000 students each year. SCME also supports the integration and advancement of BioMEMS education at Lone Star College. More than 200 students have participated in pilot tests of MEMS in biotech courses there since 2018. Lone Star College biotech students explore the concepts covered in SCME's nanopore-based DNA sequencing kit.
